Self care and pregnancy
Self-care is important. The combination of being pregnant and self-care is a challenge. You encounter things that you have not encountered before. Self-care does not mean that you have to do it alone. Some of the things that you encounter are self-care with others. Contact with other pregnant women is an example of this.
Your body changes and does so in a way that makes you think: How is this possible!
By listening to your body and using the right self-care tips, it is possible to reduce the discomforts of the physical pregnancy.
Emotionally, a lot also changes for you, it is not every day that you have to deal with being pregnant. In addition to joy, you can feel insecure about motherhood. This can be reinforced by the physical discomforts that you experience.
It is as if you meet a completely different person, a person you do not know yet. Sometimes it is a pleasant surprise and sometimes it is a disappointment. By dealing with this in your own way, you can also apply self-care here.
Social change during your pregnancy is not something that you immediately think of when you happily announce your pregnancy. Self-care during pregnancy is time that you use for yourself. This can lead to new friendships. Strengthening your ties with your circle of friends. Or that social distance arises due to misunderstandings in your circle of friends.
Also the view of society and the way you live changes with pregnancy, certain things that you never thought about now come to light and require a different approach than you are used to.
What do I mean by that? I mean that you suddenly realize that the environment you are in is no longer suitable for raising your children. The city where you live wants to exchange for a village. The people you hang out with have an attitude that you want to protect your children from. People who are always negative. To name a few examples.
As I said, it feels like you are meeting a new person. It is in fact your motherly instinct that develops and becomes stronger. That ensures that your perspective becomes clear and also broadens.
It makes you the mother that you are, that you know and stronger as a person.
It is a learning process in which progress is more important than perfection.
